IDS dedicated server info

Explanation of each setting :

Game Mode : a version of the current game you will play, and it's general rules and way of scoring and winning the game . We play TDM the most , which stands for team death match , where 6 players play against enemy 6 players and are trying to reach the score limit where 1 kill equals one frag or have the most points/kills by the end of the game if timer runs out ...

Level : A map that is being played

Score Limit : the top point limit which can be achieved on one map . It's either kills in TDM or maybe flag captures in CTF etc ...

Time Limit : Each map has it's own duration . after 15 minutes , the game is done and winner known ...

Max Players : A limit of how many players can play on the map in the same time , game's max limit is 12 .

Wind Strenght : This settings declares how strong the wind will be or if there is gonna be any . Wind forces you to adjust your aim left or right according to direction it blows from ...

Respawn Time : Each time a player dies , he will be appear in the game again on some point of the map . This is called "spawning" or "respawning" ... And the amount of seconds in the setting below states how much time you will have to wait after you die to be respawned again ...

Friendly Fire : This is the setting that allows or negates the damage done to your own team from yourself . If you shoot your own team mate in the game , you will cause damage to him as well and will receive negative points . This option is removed but avoid shooting at your team mates anyway ...

One Shot Rifle Kills : This is one of the most defining settings a server is made upon . It means that every bullet is an instant kill for the enemy , meaning it only takes 1 bullet for you to kill someone or to die from ... This is also known as "Power400"

Sudden Death : If both teams have an equal score at the end of the round, when the game runs out , the next kill some team makes declares them a winner . You may refer to this also as a golden kill ...

Headshots Only : This setting means that you can kill an enemy only by shooting him in the head . This is also known as "Power10"

Secondary Weapons : Weapons like machine guns

Pistols : Declares if the pistols are gonna be available for choosing ...

Grenades : Same thing with the grenades

Land Mines : A proximity mine that activates and explodes in your mere proximity . Move in crouch or walk over it to avoid activating it .

Trip Mines : Mines that use the cable, or a string between one point and another which when walked across triggers an explosion .

Dynamite : A very powerful explosive which when explodes can kill many people in same room and sometimes even the adjoining ones . You usually have to shoot it to detonate it . Useful for clearing rooms you know enemies are without exposing yourself to the enemy fire ...

Aim Assist : When this setting is on, after a second or a few moments , according to what you need to hit , the helping indicator will appear that helps you , tells you how to raise your crosshair in order to compensate for the gravity to hit the enemy . Line the red indicator with the enemy and shoot to hit ...

Allow Tagging : If the server allows it , you can mark , or tag your enemies or your team mates to see the indicator above their heads which indicates their position which stays there for some time even if they are not visible to any friendly player or yourself . To activate it , get into binoculars mode and click the left click with binocs crosshair pointing at the enemy to tag them ...

Bullet Drop : This in simple words means if there will be an effect of gravity on the bullet trajectory or not . If activated , it means that bullet will drop more and more as it travels further . The more distant your target is , the more you will have to elevate your crosshair to compensate ...

Scope Glint : A reflection of the sun/light upon the scope of an enemy's rifle ... When you see it , you will know where the enemy shoots from .

Zoom out to Reload : Each rifle has the magazine capacity that tells how many bullets can be fired in continuate suppression before the rifle has to be reloaded to be able to fire again ... This setting means that if you are in a scope mode and firing , when you fire the last bullet out of the chamber , you will not be able to stay in the crosshair mode but will have to watch the character's reloading animation .

Single Bullet Reload : This means that after firing a bullet, you will have to reload, no matter the amount of bullets in your magazine .This is also known as a bolt-action setting ...

Bullet Trails : When you or the enemy fire the rifle , the bullet that travels leaves a distinctive mark of it's trajectory while it travels through the air ... When you see this yellowish/orange trail , that is the origin of the shooter's position ...

Bullet Cam : Sometimes , some kils trigger the special camera that shows your bullet traveling to your enemy which you killed . This is personal preference but recently I decided to turn it off since it is not practical for multiplayer . It can slow you down and mess with your shooting flow ...

Show Players Killer : When an enemy kills you, the camera zooms from your body to the general position your enemy has killed you from . Turn this option off if you don't want your enemy and you have the idea of where your killer is upon your death . Makes for a more challenging game ...

Force Respawn : When you die, you are due to respawn again, time will vary upon the setting a host declares. But force respawn makes the game respawn an enemy after his death even if he alone didn't initiate it ... usually , when you die , you have to press some key to be able to be respawned again , this setting makes/forces this for you ...

Auto Balance : in TDM for example , each team has 6 playes on their side . If some team player's leave the game and leave the team with a significant shortage of players , a game will force some player/s from the enemy team to join the team that has less players for the numbers of players on both sides to be as close as possible ... If and when the game changes you into another team , do not get back to your original team as this messes the game's flow ...

No Cross : This seeting declares if the team's will be able to phisically enter the opposing team's part of the map . There is usually some barrier like barbed wire that disables the players to go to enemy side of the map and into their spawn area .

Download a little server launcher so you can automatically be connected to the server without having to browse for it in the lobby's server game list . And don't don't worry , it is .exe but isn't a virus so don't get scared if your antivirus notifies a false positive find. Good luck ...
